When will scholarships be announced?

Scholarship applications received by July 10th will receive notification of scholarship availability by August 1st. All applications received after July 10th will be notified as the event team is able to process them. All scholarship notifications will be sent out by August 10th. Any applications received on/after August 10th may not be addressed.

Where is the money going?

SASS Witch Con is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit event. All money goes to website-related costs, a pro Zoom account, purchasing merch, and the other costs associated with putting on an event. If there are funds left over, we hope to put them towards a future in-person event. (Full disclosure: we might also buy ourselves a nice reward meal to eat in our own homes on a zoom meeting.)

What's the difference between a Panel and a Cauldron Talk (Micro Talk)?

Panels consist of multiple people discussing a single topic with a moderator. Cauldron talks are micro talks where one person discusses one specific topic for a short amount of time (5 to 10 minutes).

What are bio breaks?

Bio breaks are breaks in the on-camera action so all participants (audience and speakers) can stretch, get something to eat and drink, use the restroom, and/or stare into the void; you know, the usual.

When will the recorded elements be available for viewing?

We hope to have the recorded panels and talks available for viewing by Monday, August 16, 2021.

Will there be any speech-to-text or transcripts available?

Yes, we will be using Zoom’s speech-to-text feature and plan on having typed transcripts of the panels and talks posted later.

How did this event come about?

This event grew from an atheist witchcraft group on Facebook and we’re looking forward to expanding the SASS community!
